Celebrating Gandhi Jayanti: Embracing the Swachh Bharat Philosophy

Every year on October 2nd, India celebrates Gandhi Jayanti, a day dedicated to honouring the life and legacy of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation. Gandhi Jayanti serves as a reminder of the principles and philosophies that this great leader advocated throughout his life. One of these enduring ideals is the concept of “Swachh Bharat” or Clean India.

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan: A Vision of Cleanliness

The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, initiated by the Government of India, is a nationwide campaign aimed at fulfilling Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of a clean and hygienic India. Gandhi’s vision was not just limited to political independence; it also encompassed the idea of a society where cleanliness and hygiene are upheld as a way of life. He believed that a clean environment was not just a civic duty but a moral responsibility.

OSM’s Commitment to Swachh Bharat

This Gandhi Jayanti, OSM proudly joined the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, aligning our efforts with the government-led campaign to make Gandhi’s vision of a Swachh Bharat a reality. Under the slogan “Swachh Bharat ki Shuruwat apne ghar se” (Clean India starts from our homes), all OSM employees, from our headquarters to our factory workers, came together to take action.

Cleaning Our Surroundings: Leading by Example

On this special day, OSM employees took to the streets and the areas surrounding our premises with brooms and garbage bags in hand. We cleaned up the surroundings, emphasizing the importance of personal responsibility in maintaining cleanliness. Our dedication to this cause serves as a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. His unwavering commitment to cleanliness and sanitation plays an integral components of a healthy and harmonious society.

Spreading Awareness and Encouraging Habits

But our efforts don’t end with cleaning. We also pledged to create awareness among our friends and family about the significance of cleanliness. We understand that to make “Swachh Bharat” a reality, we must change not only our surroundings but also our mindset. It is essential to instill the habit of not littering on the streets and disposing of waste in garbage bins. This small change can have a massive impact on our environment and society as a whole.
